We are so sorry for the trauma you (or someone close to you) have experienced. Abortion may seem to be the "only option" for the small percentage of rape and incest sufferers who become pregnant. Many well-meaning people...and that might include yourself as well!--are somehow imagining that an abortion will magically "erase" the rape itself. Nothing could be farther from the truth.
Please take some time to see if abortion is your "best solution", and whether it's really the "best" option for you.
Here are a few paragraphs from a fact sheet that address pregnancy resulting from rape or incest. (It's answer #5.) You may also find helpful information on: http://www.physiciansforlife.org/content/category/5/147/51
MEANWHILE, there are more extended discussions on this website on our "Abortion, the Facts" page, located at the top of this page, next to "home.'
You are a person of worth, and deserve healing with dignity and respect. You have our respect. You have the power to avoid creating another victim (the unborn child), despite the fact that you (or someone close to you) have been victimized through rape or incest.
It is our hope that this injury will lead, over time, to a healing that will make you (or the victim of rape or incest) a stronger, more compassionate person.
