For decades they've been listed as possible future complications women should know about if they're considering an abortion -- low birthweight of future babies, and a greater chance of pre-term births.

It's frightening to think of having children of low birthweight or who are born prematurely, because of all the health risks those children face.  But are we talking about slight risks of low birthweights and premature births?

No.  Women are  3 times  more likely to deliver babies of low birthweight, and are  70%  more likely to have pre-term births.  These are significant statistics.
